I totally just figured out how to create a “class blog” – anyway! This week, I think we all had some seriously meaningful learning experiences in and out of class. Four Freedoms week impacted everyone that attended the events in one way or another. I’m a transfer student and had never seen or heard of anything like Four Freedoms week and I have to admit, I was really impressed!!! Not only that, I think that everything we learned and discovered will be useful to us as students, peers, future teachers and as corny as it sounds, as human beings. It was really cool listening to you all talk about what you got out of the different seminars. Everything we learn here at Fisher can be used to help future generations struggle for freedoms and against injustices- that’s pretty awesome. It was great that we got a chance to discuss our experiences too.
Then we all dove into our picture books, I don’t know about you guys but I was really weirded out by the idea of using picture books for adolescents – but I think in the end Dr. Jacobs showed us a few things (moo moo) that could definitely be useful.
Finally, we were introduced to our next big assigment- the mini lessons! All the lesson plans that were shared (I think Nikki, Chris, Melissa and Jason..) were great. We all have to take the lesson plan we have created/borrowed and incorporate at least 4 mini- literacy strategy-lessons into them to make them even better. So, next week we don’t have class and on the 27th we have to bring in our modified lesson plans. ![]()
